“TRY JANUARY TAKES YOU TO JOURNEY’S END”

Situated in the picturesque Stellenbosch wine region, Journey’s End Vineyards is a testament to the harmonious blend of tradition and modernity. Nestled among the Schapenberg hills, the estate benefits from the unique terroir of decomposed granite soils and the cooling breezes from False Bay, known locally as the ‘Cape Doctor.’ This combination creates an ideal environment for producing high-quality wines.

Journey’s End was established in 1995 when the Gabb family, originally from Shropshire, UK, fell in love with the farm and decided to restore it to its former glory. Under the leadership of Roger Gabb and his son Rollo, the estate has flourished, becoming renowned for its dedication to precision winemaking and sustainability. The Gabbs’ vision has transformed Journey’s End into a producer of top-quality, single vineyard and appellation wines that reflect the unique characteristics of their terroir.

The estate employs sustainable farming methods, ensuring minimal impact on the environment while maintaining the highest standards of quality. Journey’s End has also been recognised for its social responsibility initiatives, including the establishment of the Journey’s End Foundation, which tackles hunger and poverty in the local community through a network of soup kitchens.

Visitors can immerse themselves in the estate’s serene beauty and rich heritage. The vineyard offers a range of experiences, from guided tours and wine tastings to leisurely picnics amidst the vines. Guests can explore the estate’s innovative projects, such as the impressive 42-foot tall trebuchet, which adds a touch of historical intrigue to the visit.   I’ve been a fan of Journey’s End for years and continue to enjoy the consistency in quality, year after year.
